Martha Stewart says this exact shade of gray is her 'signature color' – she uses it in abundance around her Bedford home

Martha Stewart.

It's no secret that we can't stop looking at photos of Martha Stewart's Bedford home here at H&G – and who can blame us when the lifestyle guru gives us so much to admire? Fans of Stewart, like us, may be well accustomed to various spaces around her estate, whether it's a corner filled with newly potted plants or her metallic chef's kitchen – but one color unites almost every space – and it's aptly known as Bedford Gray.

This exact shade of gray paint has shaped how Stewart has colored her home for over a decade, but that hasn't stopped her from continuing to bring it to life in new ways this 2024. Most recently, she shared her two Bismarckia palms that she is planting outside her Hay Barn, and in true Stewart style, she's painted the planters in her go-to gray.

'These attractive, slow-growing plants are thriving and will do very well in the custom square fiberglass planters painted my signature color, Bedford Gray,' Stewart says via Instagram. A comparison between the tropical planters and the barn also suggests she has painted the barn in the same tone – but this wouldn't be a surprise when we consider how it takes center stage around her estate.

It's no coincidence that Bedford Gray holds the name of the Massachusetts town in which Stewart resides. In 2013, she created the paint hue specifically for her Martha Stewart Living paint collection (that was through The Home Depot at the time). And with the launch came a lot of love for her favorite versatile neutral.

'As you may know from reading this blog, there is a definite gray theme here at the farm. I chose to paint all of the buildings the same pleasing color that I call Bedford Gray. Lay down a thick blanket of fog, and the entire farm becomes Bedford Gray,' she shared on her blog at the time.

However, while Stewart continues to enjoy this hue in all its glory, we can't be so lucky. According to paint sources, she decided to discontinue Bedford Gray from the market a couple of years ago, meaning we sadly can't experiment with this exact shade in our own homes. However, this won't stop us from getting the look.

Reportedly, Benjamin Moore's Rockport Gray is said to be among the closet matches, and we can order samples via their website right now. Happy painting, the Stewart way.
