Martha Stewart’s Secret to Sparkling White Laundry: The Beloved Washing Machine and Surprisingly Affordable Detergent She Swears By

Martha Stewart Miele.

Finding the perfect laundry routine – and machine – is no easy feat, but once you nail down your essentials, washing clothes can become a highlight.

Martha Stewart has shared laundry tips on her blog, revealing which washing machines and detergents she uses to achieve perfect whites.

'In my home, I’ve long used the same products to wash my clothes and towels,' Martha states in the caption of her accompanying Instagram post. 'Miele appliances are known for their durability, efficiency, and fabric care. I’ve also been a longtime user of Tide Free & Gentle detergent [available at Walmart] – it’s free from dyes, perfumes, and effectively cleans everyday laundry.'

As Martha mentions, a good washing machine, like hers from Miele, is the ultimate path to laundry success, and Punteha van Terheyden, the Head of Solved, rates Miele for its longevity and quality of design.

She says, 'Miele is renowned for making products that last, from the best dishwashers to the best canister vacuums on the market. Their top-quality engineering and design mean that their appliances run smoothly, rarely break down, are easy to repair ,and last for years. I've had Miele canister vacuums that have lasted for 10 years without a hitch.'

Once you have a machine locked down, all that's left is acquiring a fantastic stain removal method.

Punteha has some suggestions to accompany Martha's: 'With Tide, even their stain-spot-treating pens, available at Amazon in bulk packs, are spectacular at making even stubborn tomato stains disappear before your eyes. This is very helpful to have on hand in your laundry room, or in your purse, as tackling stains as soon as they happen will give you the best shot at them washing out without hassle.'

With that in mind, Martha gives us her tips on getting sparkling whites out of the wash every time in her caption: 'For some stained white towels that haven’t been used in a while, just spray with a stain remover [at Walmart] and run a cycle in very warm water. And be sure not to overload or mix with colored items. Your whites will come out bright and white.'

With the right washing machine, dependable detergents, and a few expert-backed habits, laundry doesn’t have to feel like a chore. As Martha Stewart proves, mastering the basics can turn even the simplest routine into a reliable path to fresher fabrics and brighter whites.
