As Married at First Sight UK heads towards its finale, the couples have started to make their final vows to each other. On Wednesday, October 12, it was the turn of Jenna Robinson and Zoe Clifton, Sophie Brown and Johnathan Wileman and April Banbury and George Roberts, to decide whether they wanted to stay together.
Whilst Jenna and Zoe opted to "overcome obstacles" and give marriage a go and the fate of Sophie and Johnathan was left as a cliffhanger, viewers were shocked to discover that April and George chose to stick, despite a number of 'trust issues' over the course of the series.
Ahead of reuniting with her husband for the final commitment ceremony, April said that it “hasn’t been easy” to come to a conclusion about how she was feeling. In a separate interview, George felt the same and emphasised that a number of factors needed to be considered. “The worst thing that could happen today is that we, at least, don't end up with a friendship,” he pondered.
Delivering their renewed vows, the couple both looked nervous. April began by talking about the “incredible ups and devastating downs” of their relationship. Despite this, she confessed to falling in love with George. He, meanwhile, admitted that he needed to ask some “tough questions” with the main one being: Is April the woman he can depend on? “Waking up without you is more painful than I expected,” said George, as he ultimately made the decision to stick with April.
The surprising moment garnered a huge reaction on social media. One person simply put: "Shocked George and April stayed to the end that's shocking for me."
Another person was equally dumbfounded at their decision to stick: "April and George decided to stay on. why do I have a sneaking feeling that they didn't make it."
A third commented: "George and April have never been serious. Let’s be f**king real." And a fourth wrote: "Watching George and April is soooo awks."
Married at First Sight continues on E4 at 9pm on Thursday, October 13
