Married At First Sight UK stars Dan McKee and Matt Jameson have announced they’ve decided to split after two years together.

The couple, who were talking about wedding plans just two months ago, have explained to fans that they’ve come to the conclusion they’re “better off as friends” in a social media statement.

Confirming their split, McKee, 28, wrote in a lengthy Instagram post: “Hey guys! As you all know, we have been on an incredible adventure together the last two years and we have given ourselves every opportunity to make things work as a couple, but over the last few months we have realised that we are actually better as friends.

“Break-ups are never easy, even when amicable, but we can’t thank you enough for your support and kindness following our journey together.

“There’s nothing but love and good energy between us, and we feel very lucky to have found each other in our lives. Just sadly not as a couple!

“And although we are parting ways, we will always continue to support one another. Sending love to everyone. Dan and Matt xx.”

Their break-up will no doubt come as a shock to fans after the couple revealed in October that a trip down the aisle was “on the cards”.

Speaking to OK! Magazine at the time, Jameson, 40, said: “We were at one of Dan’s friend’s weddings recently and we got chatting with a wedding planner.

“It’s definitely something we’re thinking about. I would love it and I know Dan would as well. But we’re in no rush, we’re embracing what we have together right now. We’ve gone through this immensely intense experience.”

While McKee added: “It’s nice to have this little lull where we’re just enjoying each other’s company before we embark on something big again. I think it’s nice. It’s definitely on the cards.

“But there is lots to see out there and we want to put our money towards travelling together right now.”
