Married At First Sight's Martha Kalifatidis and Michael Brunelli expecting first child

Married At First Sight star Martha Kalifatidis has announced she is pregnant with her first child with fiancé Michael Brunelli.

The couple, who both found love on the hit dating show in 2019, shared their exciting news on Instagram on Monday, with Martha detailing her social media absence was due to battling Hyperemesis Gravidarum, severe sickness.

Sitting in the car, Michael said: "We wanted to explain our situation and make a little bit of an announcement. Martha is pregnant."

Martha continued: "It hasn't been this exciting, wonderful time for us. I don't want to sound like I'm complaining. We are so excited, we are so happy, it was a compete surprise. But at five weeks I was diagnosed with Hyperemesis Gravidarum.

"Which is severe chronic nausea and vomiting with no relief. It is 24-7. I literally didn't get out of bed for two months."

Martha said battling extreme sickness saw her lose ten kilos in five weeks.

The reality star said it left her unable to eat of drink or even able to get up out of bed.

"We have been in and out of the emergency room and hospital", she added.

Martha told fans she is now feeling better after being given some 'life-changing' medication to tackle the extreme nausea.

"It was too early to share as well. We had to disappear offline and give a few excuses," Michael said.

The happy couple announced their engagement in December by sharing a snap of Martha's glittering diamond ring.

'Mrs B,' they captioned the post.

British fans fell in love with Michael and Martha when the 2019 series was played in the UK in the third national lockdown.

It shone the spotlight back on the stars who had their taste for fame in Australia two years ago.

But overnight fame took its toll on Martha following the wrap of the series as she branded the experience "traumatic".

She said previously: "I think that what the contestants go through is so traumatic and polarising that afterwards they feel they can’t trust anyone."

Cam and Jules were the only other couple on the series who survived the transition from reality TV to real life.

They now have a baby together.

Many couples were torn apart by the end of the series but the likes of Jessika Power and Dan Webb couldn't make their romance work in real life.
