Departing Dundee manager Mark McGhee hopes his time as a Premiership boss is not over despite his looming exit from Dens Park.
The former Aberdeen player will leave the Dark Blues after today's match at Livingston after their relegation was confirmed midweek.
He took over until the end of this term from James McPake in February but has won one game since, a 3-1 victory against Hibs on Tuesday.
McGhee missed the first six games of his tenure through a touchline ban from his last management gig in the league at Motherwell.
It's been decided he won't lead Dundee in the Championship and neither will assistant Simon Rusk as he departs for a role within the English FA.
A chance to manage at this level again is still on the 64-year-old's mind.
He told BBC: "I think staying up was always a major part of the decision. It all makes sense to me. I am party to the decision in the end.
"I think in the Premiership there is a role for a manager like myself, who is a manager rather than a coach these days.
"I'm not sure in the Championship that's required - a young coach with the energy that I can't bring to the training ground any more.
"I am 100 per cent on board with the decision and I am quite comfortable with it.
"I enjoyed my time here. I am hugely disappointed we didn't manage to stay up of course."
