Saracens director of rugby Mark McCall will be taking a short break from leading the club for health reasons.
Saracens have not disclosed the exact medical issues behind McCall’s break and have asked that his privacy is respected.
McCall’s team of assistants will now take charge of affairs, beginning with Sunday’s trip to Wasps in the Premiership.
The 54-year-old has been working at Saracens since 2009 and has enjoyed a glittering career, guiding them to multiple domestic and European titles.
A statement from Saracens on Friday afternoon said: “For medical reasons Mark McCall will be taking a short break from being director of rugby at Saracens.
“People will always come first at our club and Mark will be given all of the support and time he needs.
“Meanwhile we would ask that everyone respects Mark’s privacy. Mark is obviously more than confident in the coaching team he has worked with for many years to temporarily take the reins.”
