ESPN's top broadcast team of nearly two decades was split up this summer, but their run might not be over yet.
MSG Network is considering both Mark Jackson and Jeff Van Gundy, together or individually, to be the replacement for legendary broadcaster and NBA Hall of Famer Walt "Clyde" Frazier during New York Knicks road games.
The 78-year-old Frazier expressed in the past that he would like to cut down on calling road games, which has left the door open for a new name or two to take his spot through a maximum of 41 regular season road contests.

Van Gundy and Jackson were both part of the summer layoffs of ESPN that saw around 20 on-air talents removed. But if Van Gundy and Jackson were to relieve Frazier for a part of the season, it would reunite them with play-by-play announcer Mike Breen who is still part of ESPN's top announcer team.
Breen is now calling ESPN games with fellow Hall-of-Famer Doris Burke and former NBA head coach Doc Rivers.

Van Gundy and Jackson's removal from ESPN was supposedly a cost-cutting move from Walt Disney Co.'s (DIS) -) struggling sports network. Other reports have also suggested that the NBA was happier without Van Gundy's oft-critical voice on the network's top broadcast.
