A man known in part for campaigning for Big Ben to bong for Brexit has announced he is writing a book about his role in the Brexit saga and unsurprisingly people are taking the mick.
Tory MP Mark Francois even said that his book “Spartan Victory: The Inside Story of the Battle for Brexit” was rejected by 24 publishers who he accused of Remain bias, leading him to self-publish it on Amazon instead.
Speaking on the Telegraph’s Chopper’s Politics Podcast, Francois said: “In a nutshell, the problem was that the orthodoxy within the publishing industry is very, very much ‘Remain’.
“I got some nice compliments about the book and the writing, but it became fairly evident after a while that no publisher wanted to publish.

“So in the end, that’s why I decided to go down the self-publishing route.”
The publication reported that the memoir, which costs £25, has already had the backing of Cabinet minister Jacob Rees-Mogg who said: “If you voted for Brexit, you really ought to buy this book.”
And Francois added he had high hopes for his memoir, adding that if “0.1 per cent of the people who voted for Brexit bought the book, that would be 17,400 sales”.
He said: “I was told ‘there is no market for this anymore. It’s all a few years ago. No one is going to buy this book’. Well, I’m very much hoping your readers might prove those people wrong.”
Hmm. Reacting to the news, people didn’t exactly rush to pre-order their copies of the book, and they were a bit uncertain about his claims of the “Remain establishment” blocking the book as well:

Sparta lost. That's why there's no Sparta today. Typical. https://t.co/j3D91A6Pg9

Mark Francois refers to some publishers who would not print his tacky little book as being ‘remain-biased’. I suspect they are in fact truth-biased.

‘Remainer Bias’ is the only possible explanation for every single publisher telling Mark Francois that his memoir was “utter horse shit”.

It seems that the whole 'Remain-biased' publishing community has risen up against renowned author Mark Francois to prevent his tedious self-promoting novel from being published.

Which of these stories is true?
— James Oh Brien (@mrjamesob) December 3, 2021
1. Nigel Farage’s anti-cancel culture conference has been cancelled.
2. There may be a gammon shortage this Christmas due to Brexit.
3. Mark François is self-publishing his memoir because *all* proper publishers are ‘biased’.
Honoured to have been asked by Mark Francois' to write the "foreword" for his #brexit book.

4 words really isn't a lot though, so I need to think super carefully about which ones I should use 🤔
Now we know what we want for Christmas.
