Former Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene said that is done with supporting the Republican Party.
Greene, formerly a staunch supporter of President Donald Trump and high-profile member of the Make America Great Again movement, said that she is "fed up" with the party. Her comments, posted on social media, follow similar ones from conservative commentator Tucker Carlson, who said on a recent podcast that he was "out" on the Republican Party.
"Tucker is not the only one who is done supporting the Republican Party. There is A LOT of us that are absolutely fed up and will not support a party that betrays its voters and country," Greene wrote on X. "That does not mean we are turning into Democrats either. But we are DONE with the America LAST Republican Party."
Greene has increasingly found herself at odds with Trump and members of the Republican Party throughout the president's second term. In April, she went on Piers Morgan and discussed how she and her children had received death threats after Trump had called her a "traitor."
"He was very unkind about these death threats," Greene told Morgan. "He basically blamed me. He had no compassion for death threats on my children."
"It's like a nail in the coffin," Greene continued. "It tells me exactly who Donald Trump is. Some of my biggest political enemies would never say that to me...I don't know what kind of person basically has no compassion or care to someone's child being threatened to be killed."
Last week, Carlson said on an episode of the episode of the "Can't Be Censored" podcast that he was done with the Republican Party. Carlson referenced the Iran war and other foreign policy decisions, including U.S. support of Israel.
"How could I or any American voter support a political party that's not loyal to the United States. That puts the interests of a foreign country above those of its own citizens. It's not possible to vote for people like that, and I'm not going to," Carslon said.
Like Carlson, Greene has also been critical of Trump's foreign policy and the Iran war in particular. Also like Carlson, she said she was not shifting support to Democrats.
"I'm way too conservative to be a Democrat and too honest and free thinking to be a Republican. But I'm 1000% a proud American!!!" she wrote.
