Mario Gotze ruled out for Eintracht Frankfurt in Champions League boost for Tottenham

Antonio Conte has already admitted he is “worried” about Tottenham’s mounting injury problems ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Eintracht Frankfurt, although the Bundesliga side have issues of their own.

Dejan Kulusevski, Lucas Moura and Ben Davies are all doubts for the trip to Germany as Spurs look to get back on track in Europe following a loss away at Sporting last time out.

Conte’s record in Europe’s elite club competition has been brought into question of late, with the Italian winning only 13 of his 36 matches within its confines.

Frankfurt, meanwhile, proved their ability to perform on the continental stage by winning the Europa League last season, beating Barcelona, West Ham and Rangers along the way.

Still, the German side will be without one of their key players for Spurs’ visit.

Mario Gotze, who has played in almost every minute of their campaign this season, has suffered an ankle injury in training.

Speaking to BILD, manager Oliver Glasner said: “Mario will be out, he still has too much pain in his ankle. He can’t be at 100 percent.”
