Mariah Carey is never knowingly underdressed.
Her wardrobe leans heavily towards the sort of fabulously blingy, figure-hugging summer gowns that most stars reserve for the most glamorous of red carpets. In fact, a quick scan of Carey’s Instagram reveals she’s just as happy to wear a bodycon sequin gown on the beach, in the snow or even in a swimming pool.
When she made an appearance at the Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda show in Sicily on Saturday wearing a multicoloured patchwork sequinned gown with plunging neckline and flowing train, it was just another fabulous dress day for Mariah. For the rest of us it was a reminder of just how utterly fabulously extra the “Obsessed” songstress can be.
Carey made an entrance to the show location at the Piazza Duomo in Siracusa alongside brand designers Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce. Her custom look, styled by DiAndre Tristan and accessorised with a multicoloured tiara, chandelier earrings and a fan, was designed to replicate the look of Sicilian tiles, and was entirely hand-embroidered with Swarovski crystals.
Mariah wasn’t the only major celeb in attendance. Joining her at the haute couture runway show, this year marking its 10th anniversary, were Drew Barrymore, Sharon Stone, Kris Jenner and Helen Mirren.

Carey posed for an ultra-glam pic alongside Barrymore wearing a chiffon pink gown, Mirren in a stunning striped golden lame puff sleeve creation and Stone in a gold embellished bodice and blue satin trousers with inbuilt dramatic embroidered train. Social media has been loving the moment Carey fangirled over Barrymore as she joined the ranks of the glossy posse pic.
Brand ambassador Kitty Spencer, who was dressed in not one but FIVE incredible D&G gowns for her wedding back in July 2021, was also there, wearing an incredible gold and silver floral embellished custom gown, while Kris Jenner rocked a custom white lace gown with organza frill collar and cuffs.
There ain’t no fashion party like an Alta Moda party.
