Margot Robbie, rightfully keeping men in check, has revealed that a male co-star once gave her the utterly charming gift of a weight-loss book. Yep!
The Wuthering Heights star opened up about the insulting experience during a recent Complex interview with Charli xcx, who soundtracked the Emerald Fennell film.

“Very early in my career, a male actor I worked with gave me a book called Why French Women Don’t Get Fat,” Margot revealed. “It was essentially a book telling you to eat less.”
Margot understandably had a not-so-pleasant reaction to the ‘gift’, a term I use loosely because it’s about as much of a gift as a pile of heaping bullshit.
“I was like, ‘Woah, fuck you, dude’,” Margot, somehow managing to put things mildly, recalled of the incident.
“He essentially gave me a book to let me know that I should lose weight. I was like, ‘Wow.’”
When Charli questioned whether the man (ahem, loser) is still around, Margot thankfully confirmed he’s nowhere.
“That was a very [long time ago]. I have no idea where he would even be now. This was really back in the day,” she said.
Margot stopped short of revealing the man’s identity, but in my imagination he is off in a basement somewhere watching fan-edits of Margot with an unread copy of the book.
Published in 2004, Mireille Guiliano’s French Women Don’t Get Fat is billed as a guide to losing weight without dieting in the vein of French women, who are apparently known for remaining thin while enjoying pastries and breads.
Put all the PR spin on it you like, it’s still a product of diet culture. If someone gifted that book to me, I’d tear it from the spine and eat each page in front of them. Oui oui, dork.

Margot’s revelation came in response to a question about the worst gift she’d ever received, with Charli’s answer being only slightly less offensive.
“I received once a small jar of one of my fan’s mother’s ashes,” the pop star said. Invasive? Sure. But at least Charli walks away from that gift with a new paperweight and not a head full of insecurities.
Wuthering Heights hits Aussie cinemas this week amid a flurry of controversy, and I sincerely hope the mystery man eats up its success from his basement.
