Australian bombshell Margot Robbie is now officially the highest-paid female actor in Hollywood.
And it's all thanks to her staggering salary for Greta Gerwig's hotly-anticipated Barbie movie.
The actress, 32, who first shot to fame on Australian soap Neighbours, was reportedly paid a whopping $12.5million (£10.4million), according to Variety.
The next female actor to appear below the Barbie actress is Millie Bobby Brown, who was paid a whopping $10million for her role in Enola Holmes 2.
Margot will play the iconic Mattel doll in a live-action film due to be released in cinemas next summer.
The film is directed by Greta Gerwig, who wrote the script with her romantic and collaborative partner, filmmaker Noah Baumbach.
And Margot is producing the flick under her LuckyChap Entertainment company – but viewers shouldn't expect it to be your typical tale.
Although plot details of the film are still under wraps, the synopsis on IMDB says: “A doll living in ‘Barbieland’ is expelled for not being perfect enough and sets off on an adventure in the real world. A Live-action feature film based on the popular line of Barbie toys.”
Fans are also thrilled that none other than Hollywood heartthrob Ryan Gosling has landed the part of Ken alongside Margot.
Joining the star-studded cast are Will Ferrell, America Ferrera and Sex Education star Emma Mackey, who played Maeve in the hit Netflix show.
Speaking about her role as the iconic doll, Margot said fans should expect the unexpected when it comes to seeing the story on the big screen.
She told British Vogue : “The role comes with a lot of baggage and a lot of nostalgic connections. But that comes with a lot of exciting ways to attack it.
“People generally hear ‘Barbie’ and think, ‘I know what that movie is going to be’, and then they hear that Greta Gerwig is writing and directing it, and they’re like, ‘Oh, well, maybe I don’t...”
In another interview with The Hollywood Reporter she said her goal was to give audiences “something totally different – the thing you didn’t know you wanted”.
The talented Wolf of Wallstreet actress has also spoken out about how she wants the chance to put some positivity out in the world and be 'aspirational for younger kids' with her take on the character.
The live-action Barbie film is set to be released on July 21, 2023.
