Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi are set to lead a new adaptation of Wuthering Heights from Emerald Fennell.

The Oscar winner, known for Promising Young Woman and last year’s Saltburn, had teased the project on social media but Deadline is now reporting the two actors attached to the project.

Fennell had suggested her adaptation on X with the line: “Be With Me Always. Take Any Form. Drive Me Mad.”

Robbie, who recently starred in the billion-dollar hit Barbie, has produced both of Fennell’s previous films. Elordi starred in Saltburn, which became a hit on Amazon at the end of 2023.

Details are scarce on Fennell’s new take on Emily Brontë’s much-loved romance. The multi-hyphenate, who has also acted in The Crown, will write, direct and produce. The UK-based production is set to start in 2025.

The novel has seem numerous adaptations over the years, including William Wyler’s 1939 film and Andrea Arnold’s 2011 version.

The story tells of the turbulent relationship between Heathcliff and Catherine, to be played by Elordi and Robbie.

Robbie, whose production company LuckyChap recently saw the release of the comedy My Old Ass, is also set to star opposite Ryan Gosling in an Ocean’s Eleven prequel. Next year will also see the release of A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, a fantasy that sees her alongside Colin Farrell.

Elordi, known for his role in HBO high school drama Euphoria, was recently seen next to Daisy Edgar-Jones in the queer period drama On Swift Horses, which premiered at the Toronto film festival. He will also be seen in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein.
