Former Boston Celtics point guard Marcus Smart was introduced officially as the newest member of the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday afternoon. On the trade that sent Smart to the Grizzlies ahead of the 2023 NBA draft, the Flower Mound native said to the assembled media it would be a “fresh start.”
“A lot of things personally in my life have happened this year and it can get you down, it can put you in a dark place. My house flooded,” he related. “So just for me to start over and get back to routine.”
Smart still says that even without a title he doesn’t feel he failed in Boston.
“I helped rebuild that team when I came in and came out better,” related the Oklahoma State alumnus.
