Marcus Smart: Boston sixth man Malcolm Brogdon ‘makes it a little easier’ for second unit Celtics

So far in his tenure with the Boston Celtics, veteran point guard Malcolm Brogdon has been a very good fit with his new team, even as he gets used to his new role coming off the bench as the team’s sixth man. But the former Indiana Pacers floor general has embraced the role, using his experience and court vision coupled with his scoring ability to help manage the second unit.

The results have been solid. Brogdon helps keep a younger, less experienced group of players usually on the floor with him focused and playing the right way — and his teammates are taking notice.

“We’ve got some young guys experience-wise in that second unit, so to have somebody like Malcolm to come in the way he does, it makes it a little easier for them,” said starting Celtics floor general Marcus Smart of Brogdon’s early impact on the team via CLNS Media.

In Sunday’s win over the Washington Wizards, the onetime Virginia player logged his best game yet as a Celtic with 23 points
