Marcus Rashford to Arsenal transfer: Surprise offer, Man Utd star 'not ready', Rangnick's stance

Arsenal are planning ways to strengthen their forward line in the summer as Mikel Arteta continues to shape his dream squad.

Plenty of names have been shortlisted, with the likes of Alexander Isak, Jonathan David, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Darwin Nunez all linked with moves to north London over the past few weeks. However, in what would be a surprise transfer, Manchester United star Marcus Rashford is the latest frontman to be touted with a transfer to the Emirates.

The Englishman has struggled in the Premier League so far this season, finding the net just four times for his club. His poor form has sparked rumours that he could be ready for a fresh start, and Arsenal have emerged as a potential destination.

With that in mind, football.london has taken a look at all the latest news linking the 24-year-old to the Gunners.

Surprise offer

According to the Mirror, Arsenal could make a surprise offer for Rashford. It's been a rather frustrating year for the England international on the pitch, who has only made 10 league appearances for the Red Devils, with interim manager Ralf Rangnick favouring both Jadon Sancho and Anthony Elanga ahead of him.

The Gunners could take advantage of that plight and look to offer Rashford a fresh opportunity.

United star 'not ready' for Arsenal move

Tony Cascarino believes that Rashford isn't the right man to take Arsenal forward as of now.

Speaking to talkSPORT, he said: “To be a natural striker, and this is something I learned along the way and I got better at as I got older, so Marcus could become better, because there’s no reason why someone can’t improve, you have to be very, very clinical.

“You have to punish because, if you’re going to a club like Arsenal, they’re looking to progress and be a Champions League team, so you have to be clinical in front of goal.

“I joked and sometimes called Lacazette ‘Lack a finish’, which is a bit harsh because I think he’s a decent player, but he’s not being clinical enough for Arsenal.

“They’ve needed that, for him to be punishing teams, and I don’t think Marcus is ready to do that at Arsenal.”

Rangnick's Rashford stance

Rangnick has insisted that he isn't concerned about reports that Rashford is unhappy at his current club: "I spoke with him yesterday and day before yesterday so I don't know anything about that," Rangnick told reporters earlier this month (March 2022).

"In my 25 years in professional football, I have decided not to take too much notice of things happening in the media. He didn't say anything to me, he said to me that he is still happy and that he wants to perform on a high level for the club.

"There was no mention of him not being happy here. For me this is not a worry at all.

"My worry and concern or what I'm trying to achieve with him is what we did with for example Anthony [Elanga], with Jadon [Sancho], with one or two other young players that we have, to improve his performance and make sure that he gets the best version of himself."

Rashford considering his future

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Rashford is considering his future at Old Trafford. The Italian journalist said: "Marcus Rashford is considering his future. He's concerned about his lack of game time, source close to Man Utd forward tell me - he's always been professional but he wants clarity."

His current deal expires at the end of the 2022/23 season.
