Marcus Rashford sent clear transfer message after latest Manchester United snub

Former Liverpool and England midfielder Jamie Redknapp believes Marcus Rashford's time at Manchester United has reached its conclusion and that he needs to leave the club to get his career back on track.

Redknapp made the admission after watching Rashford step off the bench during United's 1-1 draw with Leicester City at Old Trafford on Saturday evening. The England international replaced Scott McTominay with 35 minutes to go after the Scotland international had found his way into the book for a nasty challenge on James Maddison.

Rashford, however, would have been extremely disappointed not to have started the clash with Brendan Rodgers' side as both Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani were unavailable because of illness and injury, respectively. Just as against Manchester City last month, Bruno Fernandes was preferred up front, leaving Rashford to settle for a place on the bench.

Considering the United academy graduate was the only senior striker available to Ralf Rangnick on Saturday, Rashford's omission was somewhat glaring. It would be fair to say that Rangnick's approach did not pay off, with United looking bereft of confidence in attack, creating next to nothing, especially in the first half.

With Rashford's United fortunes showing no sign of changing, Redknapp believes he needs to source a move elsewhere. Furthermore, he does not think he would short on suitors.

Redknapp told Sky Sports : "This is a young man that I believe has to go and explore and has got to do something else. He looks like he's fallen out of love with the game right now.

"Go and play somewhere, because there's no doubt there's a player in there. There will be hundreds of clubs that would want him.

"He's had enormous success against the likes of Paris Saint-Germain in Europe. Clubs in England would want him - Tottenham, Arsenal - everyone would want him.

"But I think his time has run at Manchester United."

Rashford, who has scored just five times in all competitions this season, has started just one of United's last six Premier League matches and was also left out of the starting line-up for the 1-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League prior to the international break. In total, he has made 27 appearances this term.
