Marcus Rashford’s friend who sparked tribute thought he’d beaten cancer before sad death

Marcus Rashford's friend who sparked his emotional on-pitch tribute thought he'd beaten cancer, before he tragically died.

Rahsford, 25, dedicated the celebration of his first goal in England’s three-goal victory over Wales to close friend Garfield Hayward, who was reportedly a regular visitor to Old Trafford to watch the Manchester United striker play, along with Rashford's brothers Dane and Dwaine.

Garfield - known as Garf - died just days before the England vs Wales World Cup fixture this week, after a long battle with cancer.
