Marcus Rashford explains Manchester United gameplan vs Real Sociedad to win Europa League group

Marcus Rashford has admitted Manchester United's players are looking forward to the 'challenge' of Real Sociedad.

United welcomed FC Sheriff to Old Trafford in the Europa League group stage on Thursday night and they comfortably defeated the Moldovan champions 3-0 thanks to goals from Diogo Dalot, Cristiano Ronaldo and Rashford.

Erik ten Hag's side now have 12 points in their Europa League group, but Real Sociedad remain ahead with 15 points. Although Ten Hag is desperate to win the group, United must beat Real Sociedad by two goals next week to ensure they claim the top spot.

If United finish second in their Europa League group, they will play a club that finished third in the Champions League group stage in the Round of 32, and Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Juventus are possible opponents for that stage of the competition.

Rashford scored the second goal against FC Sheriff on Thursday and he discussed the performance after the game. The forward reflected on the dressing room mood at half-time and he also discussed the plan for Real Sociedad with BT Sport.

"I think it's a mix [mood] between frustration and calmness," he said. "You have to be calm to keep creating the chances and clinical in taking them, I think the fact that we scored before half-time was a big help. We come out in the second half looking for more goals.

"We found them in the end. No [thinking about 100 goals], it's just about getting the job done, it will be nice when it does happen, it will be a great achievement for me and my family, but yeah, just focusing on the next game now and looking to win that.

"I think we have to go there [Real Sociedad] and win by two goals, so we'll do what we always do, we'll try create chances and score goals, try defend well. It's going to be a tough game but we're looking forward to the challenge.

"I think it's took a lot of hard work and a lot of time to adapt and change, but we're understanding it more and more now and we are keeping more clean sheets, defending better, but we still need to score more goals."
