Marcus Rashford has admitted Manchester United coach Benni McCarthy has "definitely" helped him this season. Mitchell van der Gaag and Steve McClaren were appointed as Erik ten Hag's assistant coaches at United in the summer and the surprise addition of McCarthy to the backroom staff followed, with the South African joining as a striker coach.
The arrival of McCarthy, who was brought to Old Trafford to 'focus on the positioning and attacking stuff', was not expected, but he seems to have made a positive influence, particularly on Rashford, who has looked transformed this season.
Rashford is playing with confidence again and he scored his eighth goal of the campaign against Aston Villa on Thursday night. The forward was asked about McCarthy's role after that game and he admitted the striker coach has helped him.

"He's [McCarthy] definitely helped me a lot. To have them attack-minded coaches within the squad is great for us forward players," Rashford told Sky Sports. "It's just day in, day out, we're thinking about scoring goals, rather than the other bits.
"We've got him always there, speaking to us about it. I think my aim is to get back to enjoying my football and at the minute I am, so I'm not complaining. If I'm scoring goals and winning, then I'm happy."
Rashford was also asked about his preferred position and he admitted yet again that he's more comfortable on the left.
"I think if you watch me play when I'm on the left, I make a lot of runs into that position [central] anyways," Rashford added. "The more often I'm there, the more goals I'll score. I'd probably say I'm more comfortable on the wing.
"I need to improve with my back against the goal. I'm alright bringing others into the game."
