Marco Silva relaxed over Fulham transfer business as club eye next-level signings

Marco Silva insists Fulham will not rush into making signings this month.

After a period of instability, the club have enjoyed a successful return to the Premier League this season after winning promotion from the Championship at a canter.

Fulham sit seventh in the table and have already matched the points tally they registered during their last relegation in 2021 (28).

Such is the comfort of their position, Silva has vowed any transfer dealings this month would be focused on adding “something really important” to the squad.

Standard Sport understands Fulham are keen on a move for Arsenal defender Cedric Soares, although the player’s wage demands are holding up the deal.

There has also been a reluctance to accelerate a move for Everton’s Abdoulaye Doucoure – who played under Silva at Watford – due to the fact he is thought to earn around £120,000 a week at Goodison Park.

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s trip to Silva’s former club Hull, the Fulham boss said: “All the focus is in our players and our squad, and we know the positions that we should strengthen as well.

"If someone comes and joins our football club, they need to be able to add something really important."
