Marco Pierre White is opening the first Marco's New York Italian in the South West this summer, but rather than choose a city centre location his latest venture will be based near Thornbury. The celebrity chef, and passionate restaurateur, will be bringing one of his most popular restaurant brands to South Gloucestershire, with plans to open by the end of June.
Currently Bristol only boasts a Marco Pierre White Steakhouse, so this will be the first of the celebrity chef's Italian-American restaurants to open in the region. Like many of the Hell's Kitchen star's venues, it will be based in a hotel, The Gables, Falfield.
The three-star hotel near Thornbury, is close to the M5 and A38, perfect for locals, and people travelling through, to visit. Anthony Greenidge, general manager from The Gables said: “This brand-new New York Italian cuisine is perfect for The Gables Hotel. It represents friendly, casual dining and authentic, uncomplicated food.

“We’re absolutely delighted to have someone of Marco’s calibre open one of his restaurants here at The Gables Hotel. This is great news for both the hotel and area.
“It’s a hugely exciting addition that will, we believe, offer a wonderful dining experience and is perfect for the stunning location of the hotel.”
The food will be a mix of Italian and American inspired cuisine. Although Marco retired from the kitchen several years ago he has created the menu himself.
A sample menu shows pizzas, juicy burgers and huge steaks are a big focus. Plus there may even be the option of an unconventional afternoon tea which includes beef and pancetta brioche sliders and sweet potato fries.
Although an exact opening date has yet to be confirmed, the plan is for Marco's New York Italian to be open in June. For more information visit The Gables website
