The revolving door of football managers who take the Everton hot seat could move in another dramatic direction if Frank Lampard is replaced by his old ‘Spygate’ adversary Marcelo Bielsa. The Daily Mail reports that Bielsa is Everton’s first choice to become Farhad Moshiri’s eighth manager at the club and that the 67-year-old Argentinian has already held talks with the Blues owner.
If Everton were to hire Bielsa it would be somewhat ironic given his past with the latest boss to leave Goodison Park. Back in January 2019 when Lampard was midway through his first season in management with Derby County, a bizarre incident occurred at the Rams’ Moor Farm training ground.
An intruder – complete with what Lampard's assistant Jody Morris described as "bolt cutters" – was arrested and bundled off by police officers after being found lurking in the bushes. It turned out that the football ‘Peeping Tom’, who observed Lampard putting his team through their paces and going through tactical manoeuvres, had been sent by their forthcoming opponents Leeds United with his car registered to them.
