Marcel Sabitzer arrives at Carrington ahead of joining Manchester United on transfer deadline day

Marcel Sabitzer has arrived at Carrington for his Manchester United medical ahead of his loan switch from Bayern Munich.

Sabitzer, 28, left Germany for Manchester at around 6pm and he's made a swift journey to Carrington, where he will complete his loan move from Bayern.

The midfielder is set to join United on loan until the end of the season and the deal must be completed by the 11pm deadline.

Christian Eriksen sustained an ankle injury, which could see him sidelined for up to four months, against Reading in the FA Cup at the weekend, and the club identified Sabitzer as the ideal short-term addition to offset his absence.

Sabitzer could make his debut in the Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford on Saturday.

The Austria international will be United's third loan signing of the window after the arrivals of Jack Butland and Wout Weghorst.
