A new Carlisi restaurant is set to open in the former Maray site on Allerton Road.
Maray, which still boasts sites on Bold Street and the Albert Dock, devastated fans when it announced the closure of its Allerton Road venue in November 2022 after six years.
The venue has remained dormant since but now, the Sicilian brothers behind the beloved Carlisi restaurant are set to open their second restaurant there.

Brothers Alessio and Federico opened the eponymous Carlisi on Dale Street back in 2018 with the dream of bringing authentic Italian food, drinks and service to the people of Liverpool. Their new Allerton Road Carlisi restaurant is set to open next month.
The brothers have garnered praise, and even won 'Best Aperitivo' at The Italian Awards just 12 months after first opening Carlisi's doors. They aim to bring the flavours of their hometown to the people of Liverpool, even importing oranges and lemons from their family's farm for their own brand of Carlisi Gin.
Alessio Carlisi said: "At Carlisi, our customers are our friends and our staff are our family. We want to do everything we can to make them happy. We're proud to say that we go above and beyond to ensure that every customer has an experience to remember, whether they’re calling in for a quick coffee or spending an evening indulging in a deli platter and a bottle of the finest Italian wine."
Federico Carlisi added: "We're proud of our heritage, and we import a lot of our products directly from suppliers around Italy. Our arancini are handmade in Sicily by a member of the Carlisi family, and we import the finest cheese, wine and meat from the best Italian suppliers. We are delighted to be opening our second site here on Allerton Road, an area which is known for the quality of its independent operators."
The Allerton site will also boast a new, expanded menu which will include some of the brothers' own family pasta recipes. Carlisi Allerton will open in April.
