A manhunt is currently underway for four inmates who managed to escape from the Chesterfield County Detention Center in South Carolina. The escape occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning, prompting a search operation by law enforcement agencies.
The inmates who fled have been identified as Emanuel Robson Planco, Anton Conway Bennett, Kyonne Marquise McLeod, and De’Shawn Malik Fox. Authorities revealed that the individuals collaborated in their escape from the jail premises.
Assistance in the search efforts is being provided by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) along with other agencies, working in conjunction with the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office.
According to county officials, the escapees were housed in an overflow area within the detention center due to an increase in the number of prisoners. It is reported that the men forcibly broke through a steel door and then proceeded to scale a barbed wire fence to make their getaway.
Chesterfield County Sheriff Cambo Streater expressed suspicions that the escapees may have received outside assistance in their breakout and subsequent transportation to another location. Additionally, it is believed that the fugitives have altered their appearance by changing clothes, in an attempt to evade recognition.
The individuals are currently wanted for charges related to their escape from the Chesterfield County Detention Center, as well as potentially other offenses. Law enforcement officials are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any sightings or information that may aid in the apprehension of the escaped inmates.
