POLICE have launched a manhunt after a woman was "punched several times and kicked" on a train from London to Scotland.
The incident took place on Sunday, August 2 at around 11.20am on a London King's Cross to Aberdeen service, while the train was travelling between Newark Northgate and Doncaster.
The British Transport Police (BTP) said a 24-year-old woman was beaten repeatedly by a young male, with other passengers forced to step in.
The man, described as white, between 15 and 20 years old, of slim build with short brown hair, then fled to another part of the train.
The suspect was wearing a light blue baseball cap, a black jacket, a white T-shirt with black writing on the front and black shorts.
BTP officers are now appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
A BTP spokesperson said: "At around 11.20am on Sunday 2 August, a 24-year-old woman was punched several times and kicked by a male. Several people came to the woman’s aid as the male fled to another part of the train.
"The incident happened on a London King’s Cross to Aberdeen service, whilst the train was travelling between Newark Northgate and Doncaster.
"The suspect is described as white, around 15-20 years-old, of slim build with short brown hair. He was wearing a light blue baseball cap, black jacket, white t-shirt with black writing on the front and black shorts.
"Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to text BTP on 61016 or call 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 230 of August 2.
"Information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
