Manhunt for robber who escaped mental health facility as public warned not to approach

A manhunt is underway for a convicted robber who has escaped and gone on the run as police warn the public not to approach him.

The Metropolitan Police are urgently searching for James Manley, who escaped from a mental health facility.

Officers are appealing for information on the whereabouts of the 48-year-old, who was last seen in Victoria Park, E3, at 11.15am earlier today - Wednesday June 8.

James was convicted of robbery two years ago and was subsequently detained under the Mental Health Act

He is believed to have travelled through Waterloo Station on the afternoon of June 8.

He is described as a male of large build, bald with lots of scars on his head. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, white trainers, grey shorts, black t-shirt and glasses

Police are advising the public not to approach him and, if seen, please call 999 immediately, quoting CAD 2982/08June.
