A manhunt is today on for three masked raiders who burst into a city home brandishing a blade.
A man suffered facial injuries in the aggravated burglary, which happened at just before midnight on Saturday in Newcastle's West End.
Police say three masked males burst into the property, on Elswick Road carrying what is described as a "bladed article".
They threatened a man inside before stealing a games console, mobile phone and a watch.
Police are now appealing for witnesses.
A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said: “Shortly before 12am on Saturday police received a report of a disturbance at an address on Elswick Road in Newcastle.
“Officers attended the scene where it was reported that three masked males had entered the property in possession of a bladed article, before making threats and assaulting the male occupant. They have taken a games console, mobile phone and watch and left the area on bicycles before police arrived.
“The male victim attended hospital to be treated for facial injuries and has since been discharged.
“Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information should contact police.
