Manhunt for gunman after six injured in Chicago shooting that left two fighting for life

A manhunt has been launched for a gunman who left six people injured in a Chicago shooting early Sunday.

Two of the victims have been left fighting for life following the drive-by shooting that took place outside a large gathering at around 2 a.m. in the city’s Humboldt Park neighbourhood.

Casualties were aged between 33-years-old and 46, the Chicago Police Department told ABC News, adding that the unidentified suspect remains at large.

“While outside, an unidentified offender discharged a firearm, which struck multiple victims,” police said in the statement to the outlet.

Cops received multiple 911 calls describing around 30 shots being fired, including a man hit on a porch, according to dispatch audio obtained by ABC7 .

“Male and a female shot after a drive by shooting,” the dispatcher said. “We're getting another call of a person shot 918 North Centra. Caller says there's a person on the ground shot.”

A neighbor named only as Brianna told Block Club Chicago that the shooting occurred as a late-night party began to wind down.

“After the kids went home, the older adults were still hanging out,” she said. “It was just a lot of lingering outdoors, but everybody was in their own different group, and suddenly we just hear ‘bop bop bop bop’ and started running.”

Brianna said she was on the opposite end of the block when the shooting occurred and did not know any of the victims.
