Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg recently addressed the 280 arrests made during the Columbia University protests, stating that he does not currently have a breakdown of how many of those arrested were outsiders. Bragg mentioned that this information will likely become clearer as the cases progress.
During a press conference, Bragg emphasized that his office will handle the cases by applying the facts to the law, as they always do. Out of the 280 arrests, approximately 170 were issued summonses, while the rest received Desk Appearance Tickets (DATs) or are cases currently moving through the legal system.
Regarding the handling of each case, Bragg expressed his intention to carefully review the details of every arrest and make decisions based on the facts presented and the applicable laws. He highlighted the importance of a thorough examination of each situation to ensure that justice is served.
