Mandy Sayer’s memoirs challenge the accepted boundaries of a father-daughter relationship

Mandy Sayer’s new book, No Dancing in the Lift, is the fourth in a series of captivating memoirs charting the author’s extraordinary life.

Like her first, Dreamtime Alice, about her early years busking on the streets of Sydney, New York and New Orleans with her father, jazz drummer Gerry Sayer, it focuses on their unusually close relationship. But here, she accompanies him through his final months following a terminal cancer diagnosis in 1999.
