Moments after England's success over Germany, captain Leah Williamson called on the 87,192 fans at Wembley, and the millions watching from home, to support women's football domestically too.
Fans have responded in their droves. Manchester United ’s home ground, Leigh Sports Village, had their highest attendance on the opening weekend, with a crowd of 5,315 watching their 4-0 win over Reading.
And now for their return to Old Trafford, 20,000 tickets have already been purchased. That’s above the statistical average per game through the Euros in the summer (18,544 tickets across 31 games).
