Manchester United and Newcastle are both hoping to end trophy droughts as they face off at Wembley in the Carabao Cup final this afternoon.
It’s almost six years since United last got their hands on some silverware, winning the Europa League in May 2017, but there is plenty to suggest that Erik ten Hag and his side will soon bring an end to that run.
Still going strong in the FA Cup and Europa League, and within touching distance of Arsenal and Manchester City in the Premier, United are enjoying a superb season and will hope to continue that with success at Wembley.

For Newcastle, the wait has been much longer. Their last major trophy came in 1955 when they lifted the FA Cup, while this is the club’s first cup final for 24 years. Victory here would mean more to many Newcastle fans than securing Champions League football.
