Full time: Fulham 3-1 Sheff Utd

An expected victory for Fulham at Craven Cottage, though the match will probably be remembered for the horrific, career-threatening injury suffered by Sheffield United defender Chris Basham.

Full time: Real Madrid 4-0 Osasuna

Jude Bellingham scored the first two goals as the leaders Real Madrid breezed past Osasuna.

Man Utd 2-1 Brentford Before he came on the field today, Scott McTominay had scored two Premier League goals since February 2021; he then scored two in five minutes to save United from humiliation. Football, eh.

Crystal Palace v Nottm Forest is the late game. Taha Hashim has the team news from Selhurst Park.

GOAL! Fulham 3-1 Sheff Utd (Willian 90+2)

All over at Craven Cottage, where Willian has made it 3-1. Sheffield United stay bottom, Fulham jump to 12th.

Chelsea win back-to-back Premier League games for the first time since March. They went 1-0 down, but Raheem Sterling was outstanding and played a part in all four goals.

Real Madrid 4-0 Osasuna Joselu has missed a penalty for Madrid.

Full time: Man Utd 2-1 Brentford

Scott McTominay has given Manchester United’s season the kiss of life with two injury-time goals. He’s being embraced by absolutely everyone and looks pretty emotional as he takes it all in.

Scott McTominay only came on in the 87th minute, and he has scored twice in added time to rescue Manchester United. Maybe he’ll be Erik ten Hag’s Mark Robins. A long free-kick was headed back across goal by Maguire, and McTominay timed his run to head past the keeper.

Full time: Everton 3-0 Bournemouth

Everton end a desperate run of four consecutive home defeats by overcoming Bournemouth at Goodison Park. James Garner, the excellent Jack Harrison and Abdoulaye Doucoure got the goals.

GOAL! Man Utd 1-1 Brentford (McTominay 90+3)

Scott McTominay has equalised in added time! It was a very smart finish after a bit of a scramble in the penalty area, and it has probably saved Manchester United from a third home defeat in eight days.

GOAL! Ipswich 3-2 Preston (Whiteman 52)

Ben Whiteman has got Preston back in the game at Ipswich. We could end up with the third 4-3 scoreline of the season at Portman Road.

Man Utd 0-1 Brentford Manchester United were unbeaten at home for over a year – they barely drew a game, never mind losing one – when Brighton visited in mid-September. Now they are facing a fourth defeat in five home games, all to teams outside the Big Seven. How on earth do you explain that?

Man Utd 0-1 Brentford “If Ten Hag doesn’t work out, nobody is going to work out,” writes Christopher Faherty. “There is no superior systems-based manager out there at the minute who is available and would be superior, who you’d want to start from scratch with. The problems lie with the ownership.”

Man Utd 0-1 Brentford Christian Eriksen has replaced Casemiro at half-time. Apparently Casemiro had a bit of a shocker in the first half.

“I don’t actually mean sack him,” says Francis Mead of Erik ten Hag, “I really mean best of luck turning it around.”

Ah, my mistake!

We all expected Jude Bellingham to win things with Real Madrid – La Liga, the Champions League, maybe even the Ballon d’or. But I’m not sure many people had him down for the Pichichi. As things stand, he’s the top scorer this season, one ahead of Robert Lewandowski, Alvaro Morata and Takefuso Kubo.

The 14 minutes of added time have been played at Craven Cottage, which means it’s half-time everywhere except the Bernabeu. These are the latest scores.

Premier League

  • Luton 0-1 Spurs (FT)

  • Burnley 1-1 Chelsea

  • Everton 2-0 Bournemouth

  • Fulham 0-0 Sheff Utd

  • Man Utd 0-1 Brentford

Championship

  • Scottish Premiership

  • Celtic 2-0 Kilmarnock

Serie A

  • Internazionale 2-2 Bologna (FT)

La Liga

  • Real Madrid 1-0 Osasuna (3.15pm)

“The glory days of Dave Sexton have been sadly neglected in recent years,” writes Francis Mead. “Ten Hag is posting a timely tribute. I remember a 4-0 thrashing at Old Trafford by Clough’s brilliant Notts Forest in 1977-78. Sexton said we had been ‘taught a lesson’, and that Woodcock was ‘pretty quick’. Eric - thanks for the memories - and best of luck (sincerely).”

And then what?

“Please,” says Jeff Sax, “Ten Hag is not the answer, and that was obvious already last year. Besides discipline, what has he contributed?”

A trophy? The best season of Marcus Rashford’s career? Personally I think it’s way too early to judge, and he should at least be given the rest of the season. United can’t keep going round in circles. And even if they did decide to sack him, would anyone want the job?

“At a rain soaked Stark’s Park where Dundee United currently trail Raith Rovers, who leapfrog United into first place at the top of the Scottish Championship as things stand,” writes Simon McMahon. “At least the inevitable crushing disappointment will be good preparation for what surely awaits the Scotland rugby team tonight. Though I’d still rather be in Paris.”

Full time: Inter 2-2 Bologna

Bologna, the draw specialists, have come from 2-0 down to take a point at San Siro. That’s a bad result for Inter, which gives Milan the chance to go top when they play in Genoa tonight.

Fulham 0-0 Sheff Utd There are 14 added minutes at Craven Cottage due to the horrific injury suffered by Chris Basham.

Half time: Everton 2-0 Bournemouth For the first time since last October, Everton have a two-goal cushion at Goodison Park. James Garner and Jack Harrison got the goals; Harrison’s was a majestic finish.

Half time: Man Utd 0-1 Brentford

United are facing a third consecutive home league defeat for the first time since the days of Dave Sexton.

Half time: Burnley 1-1 Chelsea

“It’s a goob job for Mauricio Pochettino that Ameen Al Dakhil has given Chelsea a helping hand with that own goal to level the scores because, Raheem Sterling aside, the Blues haven’t looked like scoring otherwise,” writes our own Dominic Booth from Turf Moor. “It was a hammer blow for Burnley before the half-time whistle; Vincent Kompany’s side have been bright and boosted by a buoyant home crowd. They’d largely kept the visitors at arm’s length but we go in one apiece thanks largely to the effervescent Sterling.”

GOAL! Ipswich 3-1 Preston (Broadhead 45)

It’s another goalfest at Portman Road, where Nathan Broadhead has put Ipswich 3-1 up. Kieran McKenna is doing some job there.

Maybe suffered with Southgate staying on as well. Maresca is an absolute breath of fresh air. Though the difference in standards between the Premier League and Championship is so stark.”

GOAL! Burnley 1-1 Chelsea (Al Dakhil og 42)

Chelsea are level at Turf Moor. Raheem Sterling, who has apparently been excellent, forced an unfortunate own goal from Ameen Al Dakhil.

“If, and it’s still maybe a large if, Manchester United lose today, where does that leave Erik Ten Hag?” wonders Tony Hughes. “Same as before the game started?”

Burnley 1-0 Chelsea

This is from our man Dominic Booth at Turf Moor.

You can almost see the entire Todd Boehly Chelsea era distilled into 17 minutes here at Turf Moor: plenty of promise on the ball, a big chance that has gone begging for Raheem Sterling but then a soft touch at the back that means they’re behind. Huge credit to the 18-year-old Wilson Odobert for his finish and to Lyle Foster in breaking the Chelsea defence apart. Work to do for Mauricio Pochettin’s men at a balmy Burnley.
