Manchester United transfer rumours: Sheikh Jassim plan revealed; new midfield gem; Mason Mount bidding war

Manchester United can now plan for a big summer in the transfer market after qualifying for the Champions League.

Harry Kane and Mason Mount are just two of the names being floated around Old Trafford for a big-money addition, with an attacker certainly thought to be high up on Erik ten Hag’s wish list.

Here is your latest update of Man Utd transfer news and rumours...

Harry Kane

Ten Hag’s desire for a new striker has seen Tottenham’s Kane positioned ahead of Victor Osimhen in United’s wish list, according to Sky Sports. Mount and Declan Rice are named as their two other top targets.

The Napoli forward would cost around £130million, not far off Kane’s potential price tag should he decide to call it quits at Spurs.

Helping the Red Devils along in the event of Sheikh Jassim’s potential takeover of the club is a claim in The Sun that the Qatari would scrap a supposed ‘Cristiano Ronaldo rule’ involving the wage structure.

Since the exit of Ronaldo and his salary in the region of £450,000-a-week, a cap of around £200,000-a-week has reportedly been in place. Should Jassim be successful in his bid to buy United, that virtue would be a thing of the past.

Mason Mount

Fabrizio Romano has reported on Chelsea hoping to strike up a bidding war for Mount between Arsenal and United.

Bayern Munich and Liverpool are also in the mix for the midfielder, who has a year left on his contract at Stamford Bridge - yet has not fully impressed United legend Paul Scholes.

“Look, I like Mason Mount… does he do enough?” Scholes told Premier League Productions.

“I expected him to score goals, a lot more goals, in big games, to win you games, he hasn’t really kicked on from there. I think a change of club might not be a bad thing for him.”

Arthur Vermeeren

Belgian teenager Vermeeren has emerged on the radar of Barcelona following interest from Man United.

According to Spanish outlet Jijantes, via Sport, the Royal Antwerp talent, 18, is wanted as a long-term successor for Sergio Busquets at the Camp Nou.

Yet, United have reportedly already opened talks over a deal at the behest of manager Ten Hag. Vermeeren is rated at around £7m.
