Manchester United transfer chain reaction could pave the way for Amad Diallo’s Sunderland return

Any potential move for Sunderland fan favourite loanee Amad Diallo may depend on what some of England’s elite clubs do in the summer transfer window. Tony Mowbray would love to have the winger return next season after his massive success, with Amad scoring 14 times for Sunderland last season.

But the move could hinge on a few transfers happening before Diallo can possibly be allowed to leave. Reports have suggested that Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag may look to move on Jadon Sancho this summer, with Spurs interested in his services.

Sancho has struggled since his big money move to England, with just 18 goal involvements in 79 Manchester United appearances.

On paper this would be bad for Sunderland's chances of regaining Diallo, as it would show Ten Hag has Amad in his plans for next season. But the Mail have suggested that Ten Hag wants to replace Sancho with French winger Moussa Diaby, which would then mean Diallo could be available on loan again.

Mowbray will play a role in any Amad return after it was reported that the Ivorian would only come back to Wearside if Mowbray was in charge. There had been rumours that Sunderland were sounding out potential replacements for the manager, but it looks as though he will be in charge for next season.

Amad is certainly interested in a return to the Stadium of Light, as in his goodbye message he seemingly left the door open for a return.

“I don't know what the future holds for me, but I hope that one day we will see each other again. THANKS FOR EVERYTHING." Diallo posted on social media after his final game for Sunderland.

He has also commented on Instagram posts linking him with a return to the Black Cats, leaving a handshake emoji on a post about he and boss Tony Mowbray.
