Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha has urged the Reds to push for Declan Rice's signature over Frenkie de Jong.
The Barcelona midfielder has become a player of interest for United as the financial problems at the Camp Nou continue. Earlier this month, the Manchester Evening News reported that the 20-time champions were weighing up a move for De Jong ahead of a potential reunion with former manager Erik ten Hag.
After their dismal 2021-22 campaign, United's midfield has been just one of the positions that have faced criticism. The Reds are eager to add to their midfield ranks in the summer with Rice and the Dutchman among the targets as Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, and Jesse Lingard all look set to depart on free transfers.

"De Jong hasn’t played in the Premier League so he’ll need time to adapt but what a talent," Saha told Lord Ping. "It’s hard to pick.
"The West Ham captain is a brilliant prospect and very strong in the middle of the park. He’s an asset defending and going forward. If I had to pick I’d go for Rice as he provides security and it would be easy for him to adapt because of his experience of playing many years in the Premier League."
