Manchester United have reportedly identified Portugal and Benfica star Goncalo Ramos as the ideal successor to the recently departed Cristiano Ronaldo.
As reported by Fichajes, United are prioritising the signing of the 21-year-old as manager Erik ten Hag looks to add attacking reinforcements next summer. With Ronaldo having left the club following his controversial interview with Piers Morgan, the Reds only have Anthony Martial as a recognised striker in their first-team squad.
Ramos has been in impressive form for both club and country this year, with the attacker bagging a hat-trick and an assist against Switzerland in Portugal's World Cup round-of-16 triumph. He was selected ahead of Ronaldo by boss Fernando Santos.

The Benfica ace has registered 14 goals and six assists in 21 appearances for the Portuguese side so far this season. He is under contract at the Estadio da Luz until 2026.
Elsewhere, journalist Dean Jones has reported that United have 'no real concerns' that Bruno Fernandes will leave Old Trafford in the near future amid links with Real Madrid.
Jones claims that United view the midfielder as an integral part of their future plans. The 28-year-old, who has registered 53 goals and 42 assists in 146 appearances for United, still has five years left on his deal at Old Trafford.
"After checking this out, there’s no real concerns at all from Manchester United’s end," Jones told GiveMeSport. "He signed a new contract this year and Ten Hag loves him. He’s central to everything he’s got planned. I don’t think there’s any way he’s going to be sold to help fund another big transfer."
Fernandes is currently away on international duty with Portugal at the World Cup in Qatar. Portugal face off against Morocco in the last eight on Saturday.
