Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen is likely to miss out on a reunion with Tottenham after struggling to overcome an illness.
The summer signing has been almost ever-present for United this season, having joined on a free transfer after his short-term Brentford contract expired, contributing three assists and one goal from midfield.
Eriksen was a surprise absentee for the weekend 0-0 draw with Newcastle at Old Trafford, with manager Erik ten Hag telling reporters after the game that the midfielder's availability for Spurs was in doubt.
"I can't tell," the United manager replied when asked if Eriksen would face his former side. "In our team, he really contributes to what we are at this moment.
"I don't know if he will be available for Wednesday but I hope, of course."
Eriksen was a no-show for training on Monday as the squad were put through their paces at the club’s Carrington base, throwing further doubt on his prospects of facing Spurs.
Fellow midfielder Scott McTominay is available after serving a one-match ban for picking up five yellow cards. He was spotted in training on Monday and is the most obvious replacement for an absent Eriksen.
