Manchester United scouts watch David de Gea replacement and more transfer rumours

Manchester United had scouts in Portugal on Saturday to watch Porto's 2-0 win over Pacos de Ferreira with goalkeeper Diogo Costa on their watchlist, according to reports.

Costa has hugely impressive for Porto, featuring in 28 of their 29 league games as they fight for a Primeira Liga title. Sergio Conceicao's side sit one point off first-placed Benfica, conceding just 19 goals all season.

United are reported to be exploring a move for a first-team goalkeeper this summer, with David De Gea entering the final few months of his contract. The 32-year-old is expected to pen a short-term deal, but another poor display in Thursday's defeat at Sevilla has raised regular concerns about his quality on the ball.

De Gea's future notwithstanding, the likely sale of Dean Henderson and Jack Butland's return to Crystal Palace means United will need more options between the posts, and according to Portuguese outlet A Bola (via Sport Witness), Costa is of interest. The report adds that he has a release clause of €75million.

Elsewhere, Mundo Deportivo reports that Diogo Dalot is among a number of right-backs being scouted by Barcelona as they look to strengthen a vulnerable area of their squad.

Xavi's side will look to strengthen across the pitch this season but must find low-cost options in order to keep in line with tight financial restrictions placed upon them. As such, they have spread their net far and wide and see Dalot as a potential option.

The Portuguese international will enter the final 12 months of his contract this summer, although talks are ongoing as he and United look to seal fresh terms. The Reds have spoken to representatives of Jeremie Frimpong, with Erik ten Hag keen on strengthening at right-back.
