Manchester United playmaker Christian Eriksen is out until late April at the earliest with an ankle injury.
The club confirmed Eriksen would be sidelined for "an extended period" after he was fouled by Reading striker Andy Carroll during the FA Cup fourth round win over Reading on Saturday.
Eriksen was substituted in the 57th minute and Carroll, who was later sent off for two bookable challenges, was not even booked for the challenge.

In a statement, United said: "While investigations are continuing, initial assessments indicate that Eriksen is likely to be out until late April or early May.
"Eriksen’s absence will be a big disappointment to manager Erik ten Hag and fans given the consistency of his performances throughout the season so far.
"However, there is hope that Christian can return in time to play a role in the final stages of the season."
United signed Eriksen on a free in the summer after a productive four-month spell with Brentford and he has started in 18 of their 21 Premier League games this season.
Ten Hag has only rested a fully fit Eriksen in four games.
