Manchester United have reportedly reached 'final negotiations' with Frenkie de Jong ahead of a proposed move to Old Trafford.
MEN Sport revealed more than a month ago that De Jong was considered to be a target for United this summer. Since then, Barcelona have remained adamant that they would not be looking to sell the Dutch midfielder.
It is believed that Erik ten Hag, who worked with the 25-year-old at Ajax before his move to La Liga, could face some issues before being able to welcome his former player to his new club this summer. According to Sport, despite United reaching 'final negotiations', there is a difference in what price the two clubs value De Jong at.

Xavi is understood to be wanting €100m (£86.2m) for the Netherlands international while United only value him at €80m (£69m), with €70m being paid upfront and €10m arriving in bonuses. Sport claim that Barca could be willing to accept around €80m providing it is almost guaranteed they would receive that sum.
Elsewhere, United are understood to be interested in Inter Milan full-back Denzel Dumfries. Gazzetta dello Sport claim (via Sport Witness ) that Ten Hag is eyeing a deal for the 26-year-old amid reports Inter could offload him for as little as £26m this summer.
