Manchester United quartet called up for Brazil World Cup squad as Antony and Casemiro included

Manchester United players Antony, Fred, Casemiro and Alex Telles have all been called up for Brazil's 26-man World Cup squad.

The quartet were chosen by national team coach Tite, as he named his squad on Monday night. The competition was incredibly fierce for places, with many high-profile names in the Premier League missing out.

Playing for your country at a World Cup is one of the highest accolades a footballer can achieve, and Antony has ticked it off his bucket list at the age of just 22-years-old. The former Ajax man has hit the ground running at Old Trafford, with goals against Arsenal, Manchester City and Everton all helping him make the shortlist of players travelling to Qatar.

Fellow new arrival Casemiro has also thoroughly impressed since making the move from Real Madrid, as the 30-year-old has been at the heart of United's midfield, typified by his Player of the Month award for October. Fred too has earned a call-up, despite the 29-year-old only starting in four of United's 11 league games this season.

Telles is currently on loan at Sevilla, as the left-back managed to make the World Cup squad after featured in all but one game for his La Liga side.

Brazil’s squad also includes the likes of Neymar, Vinicius Jr, Thiago Silva, Gabriel Jesus and Manchester City shot-stopper Ederson. There were some notable omissions from the 26-man list, as both Liverpool's Roberto Firmino and Arsenal's Gabriel Magalhaes failed to make the cut.

Brazil's confirmed squad:

Goalkeepers : Alisson (Liverpool), Ederson (Manchester City), Weverton (Palmeiras)

Defenders : Alex Sandro (Juventus), Alex Telles (Manchester United/Sevilla) Dani Alves (Pumas), Danilo (Juventus), Bremer (Juventus), Eder Militao (Real Madrid), Marquinhos (Paris Saint Germain), Thiago Silva (Chelsea)

Midfielders : Bruno Guimaraes (Newcastle United), Casemiro (Manchester United), Everton Ribeiro (Flamengo), Fabinho (Liverpool), Fred (Manchester United), Lucas Paqueta (West Ham United)

Attackers : Antony (Manchester United), Gabriel Jesus (Arsenal), Gabriel Martinelli (Arsenal), Neymar (Paris Saint Germain), Pedro (Flamengo), Raphinha (Barcelona), Richarlison (Tottenham Hotspur), Rodrygo (Real Madrid), Vinicius Jr. (Real Madrid)
