Here are your Manchester United morning headlines for Sunday, June 19.
What United players are doing as pre-season nears
It doesn’t feel like the 2021/22 season has long finished, but were edging closer and closer to pre-season ahead of the 2022/23 campaign. United’s players have just over a week left before they have to report back to work.
Erik ten Hag will get his new squad together on June 27 as he gets down to work with the Reds. He’ll have just over a month before the new season gets underway at Old Trafford on August 7 against Brighton.

Before then, United’s players still have a bit of time to make the most of their holidays. Many of them though have already started getting back to work as they aim to impress their new boss.
De Jong disagreement will prove how much United have really changed
Ten Hag will hope he has Frenkie de Jong among his ranks for the start of his pre-season preparations. Talks with Barcelona though don’t appear to be going as smoothly as United would have hoped.
As reported by the Manchester Evening News, the two clubs remain a fair distance apart in their respective valuations of the midfielder. Barcelona want to get as much as they can for De Jong, while United are adamant they won’t overpay.
At least one of the clubs will need to make a compromise if a deal is to go through. That could well test United’s transfer resolve, and prove whether they’ve managed to shake off an unwanted reputation.
