Manchester United player Brandon Williams in cheeky Barcelona dig as stars celebrate Carabao Cup win

Brandon Williams appeared to send a cheeky message to Barcelona as a cluster of Manchester United youngsters joined the club's senior stars on the Wembley turf to celebrate their Carabao Cup final triumph over Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon.

The Reds ended their six-year wait for a trophy with a relatively comfortable 2-0 win over the Magpies, courtesy of first-half goals from Casemiro and Marcus Rashford. The Brazilian opened the scoring with 33 minutes on the clock, planting a firm header past goalkeeper Loris Karius, ahead of Rashford's deflected effort doubling United's lead just six minutes later.

Newcastle dominated possession for long spells in the second half but never looked capable of threatening David de Gea's clean sheet, meaning United held on to secure their first trophy of the Erik ten Hag era. Bruno Fernandes could have added a third late on but he squandered a great opportunity to increase the Reds' lead.

Nevertheless, it did little to stop jubilant scenes following the full-time whistle, with United's players, as well as Ten Hag, dancing on the Wembley turf and celebrating in front of their supporters. Everyone who featured in the matchday squad got their hands on the trophy and joined in with the celebrations, as did a few younger members of the squad.

Rashford, in fact, made it his mission for all of United's academy graduates to pose for a group photo with the trophy. Holding the trophy with Scott McTominay and Alejandro Garnacho, both of whom were named among the substitutes at Wembley, were joined in the group photo by Radek Vitek, Rhys Bennett, Teden Mengi, Zidane Iqbal and Kobbie Mainoo.

Fellow academy graduates, though they are of a more senior age, Tom Heaton, Brandon Williams and Anthony Elanga joined Rashford in the photo, meaning every player in Ten Hag's current squad who has come through the academy got in on the act. It was a heart-warming image shared by Rashford and it was obvious that he felt it was a touching moment.

On his Instagram page, Rashford posted: "We couldn't leave without taking an academy picture. Squad goals."

Academy graduate Brandon Williams also shared the image to his Instagram stories with the cheeky message: "Straight out of La Carrington." The message, which also appeared alongside the heart and 100 emojis, appeared to be a subtle reference to United's previous Europa League opponents Barcelona's famed La Masia Academy which has produced the likes of Xavi, Andres Iniesta, Lionel Messi and current first-teamers Pedri and Gavi.
