Manchester United 'plan' stunning Robert Lewandowski move and other transfer rumours

Manchester United are lining-up a sensational move for Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski amid interest from Barcelona, according to reports. Speculation over the Poland captain remains at fever pitch after talks over a new contract at the Allianz Arena stalled.

Lewandowski, 33, has 12 months left to run on his agreement and is widely expected to leave the Bundesliga side this summer after eight goal-packed years at the club. Lewandowski scored 50 goals in 46 outings last season and his overall record for Bayern reads 344 goals in 372 appearances.

Barcelona are heavy favourites to sign the Poland goal-getter in time for next season. However, the cash-strapped Catalans might also struggle to stump up the £40million price tag Bayern have placed on him. As such, the door has been opened for United and other potential suitors.

Chelsea have emerged on the radar, too, and would be able to offer Champions League football. According to The Daily Star, though, United should not be discounted from the race for his signature.

Lewandowski signed for Bayern in 2014 from German rivals Borussia Dortmund. As well as totting-up jaw-dropping Bundesliga numbers, he has also netted 75 goals in 130 games for Poland.

Elsewhere, it has been reported by two European outlets that United have already launched bids for their midfield targets. Frenkie de Jong is on the radar for Erik ten Hag this summer and Ruben Neves has been tentatively mooted as an alternative option for some time.

Catalan publication Sport claim United are continuing talks with Barcelona and De Jong remains their priority after Manchester Evening News reported interest in him last month. O Jogo from Portugal have followed the reports up by suggesting key figures in the Old Trafford boardroom have also tabled an opening offer for Neves.

Barcelona are understood too be keen in him, too, while United have firmed interest up according to O Jogo.
