Manchester United make Harry Kane transfer decision amid Daniel Levy's Tottenham signal

Manchester United are losing hope of signing their number-one target Harry Kane, according to reports.

As expected, speculation has intensified since the season finished regarding Kane’s future in north London. The 29-year-old is yet to confirm whether he will be a Spurs player come September 1.

Just one year left on his contract places Daniel Levy in an unenviable position - as he could risk losing his prized asset for nothing next year. Despite his contract situation and age, the Tottenham chief would still command a fee of around £100million.

Man United appear the logical destination as Erik ten Hag has no out-and-out striker in the squad. Wout Weghorst arrived in January to plug a gap but has returned to Burnley following his loan spell.

Other London clubs seem unlikely, while Manchester City and Liverpool have already signed their long-term attacking options. A preference to stay in England makes Old Trafford the only plausible escape route should he decide to leave Spurs.

However, The Times are reporting that the Red Devils are ready to give up before the window has officially opened. There has supposedly been little indication from Levy that Spurs are ready to cash in on the 30-goal hitman.

This could pave the way for Real Madrid to sign Kane as the La Liga giants pursue a replacement for long-serving striker Karim Benzema. Spurs chiefs are understood to be more suggestible to the idea of allowing the England captain to join a foreign club.
